Event Description:
Texas Independence Celebration Public Signing of the Proposed "Revised" Texas Declaration of Independence. Luckenbach celebrates Texas Independence. Starting off the day at noon, the Former Texas Rangers Foundation will perform the Texas Flag retirement ceremony. Immediately following; Lone Star Beer, Luckenbach, Gibson Guitar and The Former Texas Rangers will convene to re-sign the 1985 Proposed "Revised" Texas Declaration of Independence. This version of the Declaration was originally signed by members of the Texas Funseekers Club. Jerry Retzloff, former marketing and promotions manager for Lone Star Beer, along with several of his closest "fun seeking" friends - including Willie Nelson, Manny Gammage, The Geezinslaws, Kent Finlay and a host of other Texas characters, joined at Willies' ranch in Spicewood with the sole intent to drink Lone Star, eat Chili and sign a new Texas Declaration that focused on fun. The afternoon will feature LIVE music from K.R. Wood, The McKay Brothers and Doug Moreland. Doug Moreland will also be demonstrating his chainsaw carving skills while carving a new piece of yard art for Luckenbach which will consist of a large Gibson Guitar with the now "World Famous" Lone Star Armadillo and the Texas Flag. Just before Sundown, The Texas Star Trail ride will parade thru town with over 200 horses and covered wagons. The Firehouse Catfish Company will serve a delicious catfish supper around 6:00pm. Dusty Britches will hold court in the Luckenbach Dance Hall for a Saturday night dance that can only be shared with Lone Star Longnecks and Funseekers of Texas. There is no cover charge for this event. All ages are welcome. Please bring Beer and Catfish money. P.S. If you appear to be getting serious, you could be asked to leave.
