Gotta Love Greens!
The unseasonably cool weather we've had this May has brought out the best in local greens. Our vendors are offering a variety of lettuces, kale, chard, dandelion, and other greens - something for everyone.
Speaking of spring greens, be sure and stop by the Chef's Corner this week to try a sample of Chef Adam Yoho's Swiss Chard Tarts - prepared using Peeler Farms eggs, CKC Farms Artisan goat cheese, and Chard from our newest vendor, Fredericksburg Garten. Chef Yoho is one of the creative forces behind the soon to open "Ottos German Bistro and Brasserie" at 316 E. Austin Street.
Strawberries Still Here
The cool spring has also surprised us with a strong strawberry crop lasting far longer into May than we are used to. If you haven't had a chance to indulge in farm fresh strawberries this spring, don't let the opportunity slip away. And keep your fingers crossed for the season's first arrival of blackberries. Could be any time now!
Come for the Produce, Stay for the Fun
Our featured winery this week is Torre di Pietra. Come have a glass of local wine, dine on pizza, tamales, and sliders, and enjoy the guitar, banjo and fiddle music of Garrett Thompson. Hope to see you there.
