Marktplatz is the Place to Be this Thursday!
So much is going on this week that you won't want to miss: Our vendors have such an abundance of summer produce we won't even try to list it all; Chef Ross Burtwell of the Cabernet Grill will be using Hillside Beef to prepare his famous chili at the Chef's Corner; and Sandra Lane and Gale Reddick will be providing live music while you shop. Then after the Market is over, the Hill Country Film Festival will kick off the Night in Old Fredericksburg festivities with a free outdoor screening of 8 short films from around the world in the main Marktplatz pavilion. Showtime is at 8:30, and you can find out more about this event here: hcffoutdoors.
Take Your Pick of Pickles at the Market this Week
Whether your taste runs to sweet, dill, or bread and butter pickles, you are sure to find something to sink your teeth into at the Itz Garden booth. Besides a wonderful selection of fresh local produce, Keith Reeh also carries his line of hand-made pickles in a variety of flavors.
"Our pickles are made just like my Grandmother's," says Keith. "We use fresh cucumbers right from the vine. The fresher the cucumber, the crunchier the pickle, and ours are crunchy!"
Lifelong residents of Fredericksburg, Keith and his wife Ann have been making pickles for 22 years. "My wife and I learned canning from professionals - our parents and grandparents. We are not a big operation - we make what we can with the freshest of produce for a quality product and old fashioned taste." Hope to see you all Thursday for pickles, produce at more in downtown Fredericksburg - where the Fun Never Sets.
