Impressionism, abstraction, pulling out the essence of… and the gesture of the form are the issues of my concern, as opposed to focusing on being anatomically correct. The idea of being able to produce a mirror image of nature does not interest me. The images or forms that I produce are influenced by personal experiences, memories of events and situations that have molded me into the person I am today. Memories of childhood, coming from a farming and ranching culture, my service to my country, my education in the Fine Arts, my experience of living the life of an artist and my desire to discover new ways to communicate these ideas through the vehicle of sculpture are some of the reasons I keep working as an artist.
