Ambleside School of Fredericksburg exists to provide parents and students an alternative to the usual "work sheet" driven and test focused systems of education. Based upon the philosophy and practice of British educator, Charlotte Mason, Ambleside offers both a rigorous curriculum to cultivate the mind and a highly relational teaching method to nurture the heart. Children read and discuss some of the best books by the best authors. They explore the sciences, learn from great artists and great composers, delight in history, master mathematics, become acquainted with nature, memorize poetry, prayerfully explore Scripture, and participate in Shakespeare's plays. Interested persons should visit Ambleside to see the difference.

The school is small enough to provide individual attention to each of its students, so that no one gets lost in the shuffle, but still big enough to offer resources and programs that are the envy of many bigger schools. An education at St. Mary's supplies students with something that most children across our country cannot get in their schools: an understanding of the importance that God has in their everyday lives. Heritage School provides a distinctive classical and Christ-centered college preparatory education that prepares students for servant-leadership and lives that glorify God. The Heritage graduate strives to exemplify Jesus Christ, to think critically, speak articulately, write effectively, pursue learning for his/her lifetime, and persevere in all that he or she endeavors to do. The goal of the rigorous, academically rich training results in graduates who are able to learn independently because they have gained the tools for learning. Service and Christ-like character are of paramount importance to both parents and faculty. Heritage School, a nondenominational community which agreeably embraces multiple Christian churches throughout the area, was established in 1994 to serve the children in the Texas Hill Country.
