Leadership Gillespie County Recruiting 2013 Class   

 

The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for consideration for the Leadership Class of 2013. Application forms are available for download, or by calling 997-6523 or by visiting the Chamber office, located at 302 E. Main. Applications must be returned to the Chamber office no later than August 10 at 5 p.m.

The purpose of the leadership program, which was created by the Chamber in 1994, is to: expand the network of potential future leaders of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County enhance the participant's knowledge of the structure and operation of local businesses, schools, the hospital and government, civic and charitable organizations introduce the participants to local business owners, educators, and school administrators, hospital management and staff, government officials and the leaders of civic and charitable organizations foster a better understanding of local issues and needs develop leadership and team building skills.

Leadership Gillespie County is a very active program with a two-year commitment. In the first year each participant will be expected to attend a mixer, retreat (scheduled for August 29, 2012), nine education sessions, class social and graduation. Each participant will be a member of two teams planning, organizing and conducting two of the nine education sessions. Except for the State Government session, each education session will include a leadership training module of 45-60 minutes. After the first year and as part of the second year commitment, Leadership 2013 will recruit candidates for Leadership 2014, organize and facilitate the mixer, retreat and graduation ceremony and serve as mentors to Leadership 2013 during their education sessions.
