Fredericksburg Academic Boosters began in 1994 with a small group of people who wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in our community. The mentoring program was born with 40 students in the 3rd grade at Fbg Elementary School, Stonewall Elementary and St. Mary's. The program has grown to serve approximately 100 students in the four public schools. FISD has partnered with us to make the program successful. In the schools, FAB sponsors the Blue Ribon Billie program at FMS and FHS, which recognizes students for individual improvement in four categories, School Achievenment, Citizenship, Attendance and Helping Hand. Students are selected quarterly from nominiations by teachers and staff. FAB also supports several programs through FISD, such as iOpener, Second Step at FES and a drawing trip to the SA for FMS art students. FAB also administers a unique, extensive scholarhsip program to graduates of Fredericksburg High School. The local committee reviews applications for financial need, the ability to be successful in college and the desire to obtain a college degree. FAB is currently supporting 16 students in college.
