Founded in 1971 as a 501(c)3, the Admiral Nimitz Foundation (ANF) since 2005, in an agreement with the Texas Historical Commission, manages and provides financial support to the State-owned National Museum of the Pacific War in its mission:

To foster responsible citizenship and leadership by inspiring all ages with our collection and the enduring relevance of the stories from the Pacific War.
About the Museum
Originally opened in 1967 as the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Memorial Naval Museum, it was renamed the National Museum of the Pacific War (NMPW) in 1997, and the U.S. Congress officially designated it as such in 2006. The Museum is dedicated to honoring all who served in and supported the Asiatic-Pacific theater of World War II and ensuring that the history, stories, and impact of this significant period are available to the public far into the future. A Smithsonian Affiliate and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, it welcomes more than 120,000 visitors annually, including over 20,000 children and students. NMPW also reaches thousands more through its virtual learning programs. Spanning six acres in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas, it features three galleries with more than 55,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space, 40 media installations, almost 1000 artifacts, 15 macro-artifacts, hundreds of photographs, and thousands of oral histories in its digital archives.

Reporting to the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Technician I works under the supervision of the Maintenance Director and Maintenance Technician II to perform general maintenance work in the buildings and grounds of the National Museum of the Pacific War and Admiral Nimitz Foundation.

• Perform entry-level building maintenance, construction and custodial work as assigned.
• Maintain safety protocols while performing all work.
• Respond to emergency repair requests (including afterhours) as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Contribute effectively and productively on the maintenance team.
General Duties
• Assist in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and operating motorized equipment.
• Perform general housekeeping duties including restrooms, buildings, and grounds as assigned.
• Assist in special events & ceremonies support including set up and break down of chairs, tables, risers, etc.
• Perform maintenance and repair work such as plumbing, masonry, welding, carpentry, painting, electrical, and mechanical.
• Assist with maintenance including repair of machinery, equipment systems, and components, and other mechanical systems.
• Maintain and repair sprinkler systems as assigned.
• Mow lawns, edge walkways, and curbs, trim shrubbery and maintain formal garden and flowerbeds as assigned.
• Load and unload supplies and materials.
• Perform inspections of operating machinery, equipment, systems, and maintain files on such equipment and maintenance activities.
• Perform related work tasks as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; education + experience may be substituted.
• Basic computer knowledge
• Able to work 8-hour shifts on a variable schedule. Duties will require working other than Monday through Friday and shift times of day may vary.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs and climb ladders.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision and complete tasks as assigned.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with team and other staff.
• Experience in building, maintenance, and repair work preferred.

Environment and Physical Conditions
• Building environment and may have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activities and human contact.
• Work will involve walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work extended periods at a computer, machinery or other equipment.
• May require working extended hours and some evenings.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a Full-Time position in the range $15.00-16.00 per hour with health insurance, sick leave, paid vacation, and holidays. A 401-B retirement savings account is offered. The applicant’s lifestyle must be flexible enough to work evenings and weekends, when required.
Hours are from 8a-5p and must be 18 years of age and have a valid Texas driver's license. And all other tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Maintenance
