Meals for Vets is a state-wide program located in Fredericksburg, TX. Our mission is to provide consistent access to healthy meals for Texas Veterans, age 59 and younger, and surviving spouses who are in need financially. Using local or national food programs and College/University dining facilities, Meals for Vets funds this outreach to help our Heroes in a time of need.
The Veteran Support Coordinator is the front-line connection with Veterans who are applying for meals through Meals for Vets.
Responsibilities:
• Assess the Veteran’s Qualification, through a brief phone intake, to assure
the Veterans meet income criteria
• Coordinate with Meal Providers to arrange meal service for Veterans
• Obtain Required Documentation
• Maintain Veteran Files*
• Periodic Follow-Up with Veterans enrolled in program
• Various Other Duties as needed
*It is paramount to have the Veteran files organized with proper documentation in order to comply with the various funding requirements.
The Veteran Support Coordinator reports directly to the Veteran Support Supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Must be Detail Oriented
• Ability to Multi-Task
• Ability to Work Independently with limited supervision
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word
Schedule and Wages:
• Full-Time Monday-Friday (some weekend/evening event work required)
• Wage Dependent on Experience/Skills
• Holidays/Paid Time Off, once accrued after 90 days
