The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce has proudly represented the diverse and growing business community of Gillespie County for more than 100 years. Steeped in tradition, yet with an eye to the future, we strive to make Fredericksburg both a great place to do business and a great place to live.  Our collective strength allows us to promote business trade, provide valuable networking opportunities, monitor legislative issues and economic trends, and equip our members with the resources needed in today’s ever-changing marketplace.


Who We Are Looking For

The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce is looking for a President/CEO to replace our current President/CEO who is retiring after 20+ combined years with the Chamber.  This position is the chief executive officer for the Chamber and provides the visionary leadership for the organization.

The President/CEO is at the forefront of leading the Chamber’s program of work that is set by the Board of Directors to whom this position reports. 

Job Functions and Duties


The CEO oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations, responsible for development, growth and oversight of the Chamber’s resources. The CEO provides accurate, timely, and meaningful information to the Chamber Board of Directors.


The CEO role is writing intensive, including a weekly newspaper column, electronic newsletters, emails, policy statements, promotional materials, fundraising solicitation, news releases, etc.


Public Speaking

The CEO represents the Chamber and its membership.  This position is often called upon to make both prepared and impromptu remarks, representing the Chamber in public meetings and events.


The CEO must be able to express the opinions of the Chamber, keeping personal opinions private; practice discretion; and encourage resolution of problems.


The ability to set fundraising strategy and conduct or direct implementation is a vital skill.


The Chamber's success is built upon our ability to listen to member and stakeholder needs.

Project Management

The CEO must be able to juggle multiple projects, tracking progress and managing resource allocation.

Relationship Building

The Chamber needs relationships at every level. The CEO must be able to build and maintain relevant stakeholder relationships.

Management of People

The CEO role has sole authority over hiring and management of the Chamber staff.  Additionally, this position must recruit, retain, reward and recognize the many Chamber volunteers.
