The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce Property Tax Workshop, with guest presenter Olan Tisdale sold out early in June, so the Chamber is publishing a video of the event and a sample of the handouts.

 

Olan offered a general understanding of the mass appraisal process, the importance of requesting an appraisal card and overview of the information that appears on that card and tips for how assemble the data needed to file a protest of value, if desired

THE DEADLINE TO FILE A PROTEST OF APPRAISED VALUE IS JUNE 16.

 

Olan Tisdale joined a master appraisal firm upon graduation from Texas Tech University. Following passage of the Peveto Bill by the Texas Legislature in 1979, which created a tax appraisal district for each county in the state, Tisdale set up the Gillespie County Central Appraisal District (GCAD) and served as its second Chief Appraiser from 1985-1996. Starting in 1998, he worked as a tax consultant for 25 years.

 

Gillespie County property owners have received their 2023 Notices of Appraised Value, with commercial properties increasing an average of 37.67%. Single family homes averaged a 22% increase and agricultural land increased by an average of 21%.
